Buenos Chicas and Scott,
I am in the process of reconnecting with my regular life with some difficulty today. I continue to feel that something is missing…Where is the itinerary of activities, the morning hugs and smiling faces of my new friends, the “welcome drinks” mid-morning, the wonderment of new sights, the charming solicitations and brilliant smiles of Yasmani and Profy, Scott’s amicable and persistent patience moving me through the daily agenda, the humidity that set my personal record for bad hair days and compelled me to drink more water than I normally consume in a month?
Gosh, you mean I have to set my own schedule today? Cook? Ambulate without the support and laughter of 10 other people? I keep wanting to look around and count 9, 10, or 11. It was a magical and fantastical trip.
Unfortunately, I lack the eloquence to tell each of you how much I appreciate you for sharing this adventure in such an open, generous, and authentic way. I hold a deep respect and fondness for each of you. It would be wonderful to meet again but more likely we will find new paths and adventures with other wonderful people in other fantastical places. None the less, I know that no matter where or how long we all abide on this planet we will be laughing and sharing stories that keep alive the magic of this adventure and the camaraderie found among passionate, thoughtful, adventurous, intelligent and strong women. Thank you!
Dear Scott, thank you for the privilege of sharing some of your vast knowledge, experience, and wisdom with me. I commend you for your generosity of spirit, time, patience, attention to detail, and “choreography” that provided all of us with authentic opportunities to meet, know, and fall in love with Cuba and its people. I know that a part of my heart will always be attached to the people and places I experienced in Cuba…and I’m missing them already.
Buenos~
Mary
